In a North Charleston car accident? Don't make these mistakes

Car accident victims have a lot on their mind following a crash. The events following an accident can be so stressful that you might make some honest mistakes while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive. Today, we will provide you with a list of things you should never do after a car accident so any claim you wish to file is not jeopardized.

Unless it is absolutely necessary for safety reasons, you should not move your vehicle following a crash. The police will want to see where the vehicles stopped after the accident and how they hit each other, which can best be determined by looking at them in their original state.

Never put yourself in added danger by standing out in the road or any other area where there are hazards. Remove yourself from the vehicle and get to the side of the road or a parking lot that can be seen from the crash scene.

You should never leave the scene of the crash unless told to do so by the police who have responded. There's no reason to leave the crash scene on your own, even if you are the victim of a hit-and-run driver.

Do not move or throw away any evidence from the crash scene. This includes clothing with bodily fluids or blood on it, defective parts from the vehicle, debris from the vehicle or any other item that can be considered evidence.

It's important to follow the tips outlined here so that you do not impair your ability to recover fair compensation following a North Charleston accident. Knowing what not to do really can help any legal claim you file move forward successfully.
